06/08/2007 - Davie, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Embattled Miami Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper left the team's final minicamp practice of the spring on Friday.
The Miami Herald reported that Culpepper, who asked for his release on Thursday, stretched with the team but did not participate in any drills and then left for the locker room before practice was over.
A Dolphins spokesman told the paper that Culpepper just needed to get into the locker room but the former Pro Bowl quarterback never returned to the practice field.
Culpepper suffered a career-threatening right knee injury in 2005 while playing for Minnesota but was traded to Miami for a second-round pick that offseason.
Culpepper managed to get back on the field for the start of the 2006 campaign and was the Dolphins' starting quarterback for the first four weeks. But, he did not look healthy and struggled mightily before being shelved for the season.
The former Central Florida star was finally cleared to resume practice this week but the Dolphins had already moved on, acquiring former Kansas City signal caller Trent Green earlier this week.
